Frequently Asked Questions
Do you do cover-ups / reworks?
I always suggest that if your original artist is available to you (ie not in another country) that you contact them in the first instance, as most artists are happy to update their work. In the event that you can’t reach your artist, or if for any reason you are uncomfortable returning to them, then I am happy to rework or cover up your tattoo.
This is a highly subjective process, subject to size, placement, design, density, and contrast; and we are usually limited in what will be effective, so coverups do require a level of flexibility and trust in me as your artist. I will ask to see either a clear picture or the tattoo in person, and will be honest about whether I believe the coverup to be in my capability. In the event I don’t believe I am the best artist for your coverup, as with any tattoo, I will happily recommend other artists to you.
Do you tattoo over scars?
I have a great deal of experience in tattooing over scar tissue, and find this work incredibly special and rewarding. Scars, whatever they are from, are often a physically and emotionally sensitive part of the body, and as I have experienced so far, often, sadly, a point of shame. To see the joy in my clients after covering scars is something beyond words, and I am very grateful for your trust with these tattoos.
As with tattoo coverups, I will ask to see the area of scarring prior to the appointment, so that I can adapt the design accordingly. In some instances of particularly deep or keloided scars, I will not be able to tattoo directly over them, but, for instance if this is only one area of scarring, we may have other options, which I will happily discuss with you personally. I will always talk you fully through the specific risks of tattooing over scars before your appointment too.
Do you do colour tattoos?
I am trained in colour, and happy to add some colour to your tattoo if you wish. I do primarily work in black ink, and am happy to recommend other artists to you should I feel they will execute a specific colour technique better for you.
I have another question not listed here, how can I ask you?
I would love to hear your ideas, and help clarify anything I can. Please drop me a message on Instagram, or an email, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. All of my contact details can be found on my Contact page.
